A few days ago, Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan said why not work together. From then, there are speculations all over about both of them joining hands. But even something of such sort happened, they differed already on an issue. Kamal Hassan recently approached the Supreme Court against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and strongly condemned it saying it is against the secular ethos of our country.
However, Rajinikanth did not voice any opinion against it but said violence should not be the route to solve any problem at a time when protests against CAA are being held in different parts of the country. He did not write a single word against CAA which indicates that he is indirectly supporting the act. We can conclude that Since Kamal and Rajinikanth have taken a diametrically opposite stand on CAA and the protests, the chances of their future political alignment (as speculated by a section of the media and others) is almost nill. Kamal Hassan’s party, Makkal Needhi Maiiam already contested and failed to win a single seat in the recently concluded Parliament elections. Rajinikanth who announced his political entry a long ago recently announced that he would contest the 2021 Assembly Elections in Tamil Nadu.
