Uppena is a regular rich girl poor boy story set up in the backdrop of Godavari district. Aasi (Vaishnav Tej), who is a fisherman falls in love with Bebamma (Krithi Shetty), daughter of Vijay Sethupathi. Vijay Sethupathi, who honors his caste and pride more than his daughter doesn’t approve of her relationship and kills Aasi’s father. Both Aasi and Bebamma elope to a different state to live happily. The rest of the story revolves around if Vijay Sethupathi will find them? Will they really live happily? Is there a tragic end to the story?
Uppena is definitely one of the most awaited movies in recent times and the hype it had was unprecedented for a debut hero movie. Devi Sri’s music is definitely one of the crucial factor in elevating the film. Bucchi Babu Sana weaves the story with a good nativity with a small twist in 2nd half. However, the movie reminds us of many previous watched movies like Sairaat, Dorasani, Jayam etc. First half is breezy and has 4 songs. However, things start going south in 2nd half and there is no story in 2nd half except one twist. Climax is again good with some good hard hitting dialogues. Cinematography needs a special mention. This is a perfect debut for Vaishnav Tej and Krithi Shetty in telugu and if you like love stories you can give this movie a watch.
