Punchline: Ranarangam Fails To Deliver

Ranarangam is a gangster drama, where Sharwanand(Deva) plays a black ticket selling youngster, who then takes on Vizag liquor mafia and becomes powerful. In his journey of becoming a powerful gangster, he has to confront many enemies who are eagerly waiting to take him down. Rest of the story is about how Sharwa fights the other gangsters and survives

Artistes’ Performances:

  • Sharwanand is at his best and plays both the roles (aged gangster and young gangster) well
  • Kalyani Priyadarshan steals the show
  • Kajal is just okay

  • Sharwanand’s Performance
  • Kalyani Priyadarshan Performance
  • Technically Sound

  • Slow Paced Narration
  • Routine & Predictable Story
  • Second Half

Ranarangam, which is directed by Sudheer Varma has created some decent hype with its promos and some technically well cut trailers. Sharwanand, who has been going through some rough phase after Padi Padi Leche Manasu is eagerly waiting for a break and even Sudheer Varma didn’t taste success after Swamy Ra Ra. Sithara Entertainments, that recently delivered a blockbuster Jersey bankrolled this film and had high hopes on this. Coming to the film, the first half of the film starts well and some quirky one liner dialogues are well written. Romantic track between Kalyani & Sharwa is good too. However, movie loses its track in second half and the pace of the movie tests your patience. One wonders why Kajal Agarwal even agreed to do this film as she doesn’t have any role at all. Movie highly runs on a predictable note and offers no novelty. Technical values like BGM and shot making is good. However, Ranarangam fails to deliver and the wait for Sharwanand to deliver a hit continues
