Punchline:  A Tedious Watch

The film is about Mirza played by Amitabh Bachchan and he is a very old man who is waiting for his wife to die so that he can steal her ancestral property in the city of Lucknow. Mirza also has competition in the form of his tenant Baankey(Ayushman Khurana) who is not vacating the property. So, Mirza files a case and tries to use the law to get ownership of the property. Will he do that is the story.

Artistes’ Performances:

  • Amitabh Bachchan is the main highlight as he shows how one should go about playing a character even at the age of 80

  • Amitabh Bachchan as Mirza is greedy, adorable, and also super cunning and all this the senior actor shows with ease

  • Ayushman Khurana is no different as he stands his ground in front of Amitabh and mouth the Locknowi accent superbly and does his act convincingly

  • Amitabh Bachchan’s performance

  • Climax twist

  • Slow paced narration

  • The film is painfully slow and it rightly released on OTT as it would have been a painful watch on the big screen though it has a good premise

Gulab Sitabo is a kind of film that is perfectly suitable for OTT platforms. The story is of greed and is nicely set. But what takes the cake is Amitabh as he is one who makes the film watchable with his endearing act. Watch it only for him.
