Legend SP Balasubramaniam is No More

Legendary Playback Singer SP Balasubramaniam had left for the heavenly abode. The Legend who has contracted the Coronavirus was admitted to the hospital with mild symptoms in August first week. Later, his health deteriorated for the first time on August 13th late night and he was put on life support and moved to the Intensive Care Unit.

On August 19th, he was put on ECMO besides a ventilator. Only the last week, his son SP Charan announced that he is recovering and is eager to get discharged. But then, his health deteriorated the other day and the hospital termed him ‘Extremely Critical’.

He passed away at 1.04 PM today. Born in Nellore in Andhra Pradesh, SPB made his debut as a playback singer in December 1966 with Telugu film Sri Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna. The six-time National Award-winning music legend has sung more than 40,000 songs in several languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. He has also won several Filmfare awards and state awards. He was also honored with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan.
