Corona Effect: Darshans Stopped in Tirumala

Corona Danger for Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam

It looks like the entire country is coming under the shutdown in the fear of Coronavirus. The effect has reached Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam as well. In an emergency meeting, the officials have decided that the shrine should be closed to the pilgrims until further notice.

Accordingly, the devotees were asked to vacate by 6 PM today. Darshans will also be stopped from the evening. The Tirumala – Alipiri ghat road from where the pilgrims come to Tirumala to be closed soon. Tomorrow morning, the second ghat road will also be closed.

During this closure, all the rituals will be performed to the Lord by Archakas according to the Agama Sastra. This is the first time Tirumala is being closed indefinitely. The shrine is the busiest temple across the globe and the Lord will rest only for 2-3 hours a day for the sake of pilgrims coming in 1000s.
