Andhra Pradesh Will Now Have Three Capitals

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan gives his assent to AP Decentralisation and Inclusive Development of All Regions Bill, 2020, and the AP Capital Region Development Authority (Repeal) Bill, 2020 after taking legal opinion. 

The Bills will now need the assent of the President and upon that, it will be notified in the Gazette. With this, Andhra Pradesh will have three capitals now – Vishakapatnam, the Executive Capital, Amaravati, the Legislative Capital, and Kurnool, the Judicial Capital.

AP will become the first state to have three capitals in India. The farmers who have given their lands for the Capital will now only hope that the courts will come to their rescue. Meanwhile, the Government will begin the exercise to shift the Government machinery to Vishakapatnam as soon as possible.
